Auburn Bay, Mahogany, Cranston, Seton, and Legacy skew heavily toward families with school-age children, and that concentrates travel into a handful of fixed windows: spring break, the July and August school holidays, and the Christmas fortnight. Those are the most expensive weeks of the year, and the ones where booking late hurts most.
The practical consequence is that southeast families benefit more than most from booking early and from being flexible by a day or two at the edges. Shifting a departure from the Friday to the Tuesday of spring break week routinely saves several hundred dollars per seat on sun routes, and flying home on a Wednesday rather than the Sunday is usually the single biggest saving available on a family package.

Deerfoot north is the direct route and is fine outside peak hours. On a weekday morning, Stoney Trail east and north is usually the more predictable option even though it is further.
Most sun-route departures to Mexico and the Caribbean leave early morning. With young children, a 4am start from Mahogany or Legacy is a real consideration — ask us about the mid-morning departures that exist on some routes.
Sun and Caribbean charters generally leave from the International Terminal. Check your specific flight, since a few US-routed itineraries depart from the domestic side with US preclearance.
