02 · About this route
Caribbean trips are our most-booked tropical route in winter. Most travellers fly Air Transat, WestJet Vacations, or Sunwing direct from YYC to major beach hubs — typically 6-8 hours flight time.
All-inclusive packages bundle the flight, 4-5 star resort, ground transfers, meals, drinks, and sometimes excursions. We match you to the right resort based on traveller type (families, couples, adults-only) and budget.
Most Caribbean islands don't require a visa for Canadian passport holders. The exceptions (like Cuba's tourist card) are included in our booking automatically.

June through November, with peak risk from mid-August to early October. Travel in that window is materially cheaper, and it is the clearest case for taking cancellation and interruption cover seriously rather than treating it as optional.
Several are, seasonally. Winter charter and scheduled service from YYC reaches Cancun, Punta Cana, Varadero, and Montego Bay directly. Smaller islands generally require a connection through Toronto or a US hub, which lengthens the day considerably.
On the direct winter sun routes from Calgary, usually yes, because tour operators buy seat and room blocks at rates not available retail. For islands without charter service, booking separately often wins. We price both.
For a straightforward beach week, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic or the Mexican Caribbean coast, both of which have direct winter service from Calgary and the widest resort choice. Cuba is the best value. Smaller islands reward a second visit more than a first.
December through April for the driest and most reliable weather, which is also peak pricing. Late April, May, and early December offer a reasonable compromise between weather and cost, sitting outside both peak season and peak hurricane risk.
Canadian passport holders can enter most Caribbean countries without a visa for tourism, though Cuba requires a tourist card, which we include in bookings. Requirements differ for non-Canadian passport holders resident in Canada, and we check those individually.
